Monochromatic Pretty Kitty

I saw this layout from a fellow demonstrator. I deleted the screenshot so I cannot tell you her name. oops! Live and learn. It is so easy because it is monochromatic (I don't have to think about which colors go together) and rectangular cuts. This could easily be used with any image.

For this card I used watercolor pencils, a blender pen, the Pretty Kitty Stamp Set, Daffodil Delight cardstock and DSP, Pacific Point cardstock and DSP VersaMark ink pad, and a black Versafine inkpad.

Watercolor pencils are all the rage right now. I have always loved using them. I have trouble with the free flow of watercolor sometimes. The pencils give me a lot more control.

The colors I chose where Daffodil Delight and Pacific Point. I chose these colors because I wanted to use the free gift watercolor pencils I got in my April Paper Pumpkin. They came in Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point, Melon Mambo, and Rich Razzleberry. (A set of 13 in Stampin' Up! colors are available.)

Paper Piece Sizes
 Daffodil Delight:
 Card Base - 5 1\2" x 4 1/4"
Front Panel - 4 3/4" x 1 1/2"

Whisper White:
 Front - 5" x 3 3/4"
Inside Panel - 4" x 5 1/4"
Image Panel -  1 3/4" x 2 1/2"
(I cut this pieces with a Chalk Talk Thinlit)
Designer Series Paper (DSP):
Front Panel - 4 3/4" x 3 1/2"
Inside strip - 3 1/2" x  3/4"

I have many other brands of watercolor pencils so I was a little leary with these. I have to say I was impressed. The colors are very vibrant. I just wanted to use Whisper White paper so I did a swatch test to see how they would perform and how they compare to the original ink colors.

The water warped the Whisper White cardstock, so I decided to use my blender pen.  For other projects this may not be an issue for me. Usually I use watercolor paper; this DSP has white so I wanted keep keep it very crisp.

I've been using the Pretty Kitty stamp set a lot. It is just so adorable!

Originally I was planning on coloring in the pot but changed my mind to doing a bit of fussy cutting. I think it paid off.
